Mind the Gap

If you’ve ever been to London and taken the subway, when the cars stop and the doors open you’ll hear a recorded voice, with that ridiculous accent say, “Mind the gap”; meaning the gap between the platform and the subway car.

In the text we have been studying, Deut. 29:29, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” a place that we get in trouble is distinguishing the difference between the two.

Error 1.

Everything that God said is debatable. Gen. 3:1, “Has God             indeed said…?

Error 2. Hyper dogmatic thinking we know every jot and tiddle,

I Cor. 8:1, “Knowledge puffs up”

Be certain, God is concerned about sound doctrine

I often like to say, there are only three religions in the world

         1. Atheism: No God, man is the measure of all things

         2. Heresy: An inaccurate understanding of who God is.

         3. Sound doctrine: An accurate understanding of who God is

Liberal Christianity (which is not Christianity) denies the inerrancy of Scripture, and loosely makes up a form of Godliness as they go along, usually absent of repentance.

Equally as dangerous is Christianity that makes absolute truth claims where Scripture is either silent or inconclusive.

Remember last week we said, “Notions of God derived from our own observations or opinions only give way to false religions, creating God in our image.”

I Cor. 2:14, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Let’s read together Gen. 18:16-33

I guess there weren’t even ten righteous L

Abraham was right when he said, “I who am but dust and ashes.”

The key verse is 25, “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Trusting God with the mysterious elements of His nature is a key aspect of our relationship with Him.

Are we predestined or do we have free will?

I don’t know, but I trust God who does what is right.

What happens to babies who die before they can confess Christ?

I don’t know, but I trust God who does what is right.

Do we have to get baptized to be saved?

I’m going to get baptized because Jesus instructs us to, but       for everyone else, I trust God who does what is right.

Are avocado pits to big?

I don’t know, nor do I care, I trust God who does what is right.

Read I Tim. 6:3-5   “…obsessed with disputes and arguments…”

Knowing God is a very different dynamic      than knowing about God. This is the   distinction of Christianity (religion “3”)

Paul said, “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” I Cor. 2:2

Let us do the same!
