Living with a New Name – Walking into Repentance - Purity 619

Living with a New Name – Walking into Repentance - Purity 619

Purity 619 01/04/2022   Purity 619 Podcast

Good morning,

Today’s photo of a pink, blue, and golden sunset sky over the Hudson River somewhere along River Rd in Easton NY comes to us from the love of my life as she captured it on our return trip from a day of errands as man and wife that included TammyLyn Seguin legally declaring her new identity as TammyLyn Clark.  This beautiful sky gave us great joy as we knew I would be sharing one of the several shots TammyLyn captured on our first Monday as husband and wife and that it would be the first photo highlighting God’s creation in 2022 that was taken in 2022.

Well it’s Tuesday and as the old Soul II Soul song says it’s “Back to life, Back to Reality” as both me and the Mrs. will bid adieu to what was the period of our lives that was a whirlwind romance, engagement, and wedding and now have to go back work pretty much like we were before this weekend but fundamentally changed in very significant ways as we reenter the working world as married people, one of us with a new name.

Sometimes in life we form relationships that change who we are forever.  In the Bible, there are several scenes where God’s interactions result in people receiving a new name. Abram to Abraham, Jakob to Israel, Simon to Peter, and Saul to Paul are some examples of people who were called by God who got a new name.  But would the name fit?

When I developed the blog and tried to think of a name for it, I thought that “Empty for Christ” would be a good way to express how we have to “empty” ourselves to be filled with the life that God has for us.  But then I thought of my name, Marc Thomas, and how my initials M.T. sort of sounded like “Empty”, and because the blog was going to be about my testimony and my decision to try to live a Christian life, I decided to make the name MT4Christ because it adequately expressed not only the idea of the need to surrender to the Lord in general but it also served as a proclamation of sorts that I, M.T., was indeed for Christ as I sought to surrender myself to His will for my life for the rest of my days.

But just like the patriarchs of our faith and the Apostles, it took me sometime to grow into the new name.  Even though I started mt4christ.org back in 2015, I personally didn’t really decide to “go by” my initials until 2020 when I completed my master’s Thesis in Christian Counseling and decided to get trained for and to begin a Community Freedom Ministry. Although I boldly started the work in 2015, I didn’t have the boldness to adopt the “new name” until relatively recently.  A lot has changed.

It might surprise some that I never really spoke in public or shared writings publicly before coming to Christ.  All of this, my writings, my serving in the church, my teaching and ministry work, and now my podcast were all products of the transformation of Marc – “the fun loving but secretly troubled worldly dude” to M.T. – “encourager and promoter of the gospel of Jesus Christ”.

And guess what, just like the Apostle Peter would show his faithfulness one minute and put his foot in his mouth and show more “Simon” like characteristics the next, I haven’t arrived yet.  I am still a work in progress.

Even though I made great strides in 2021 towards my goal of optimal health, perhaps because of stress or due to the surrounding seasonal celebrations of Autumn that begin with Halloween and lead to Christmas and New Year’s, somewhere along the line M.T.’s resolve to stay the course got engulfed in behaviors that were more like “Marc’s”.  And just like a Mr. Hyde induced hangover, Dr. Jekyll is left feeling the pain, so I M.T. am left to pick up the pieces and start again.

So with the new year upon us, I am officially renewing my goal to reach and maintain a body weight and state of health that distances me from the classification of “obese” and brings me closer to normal, or healthy, according to the BMI scale and my personal standards.

Also I am in the midst of doing a spiritual check up as I lead a new Online discipleship class Thursday and want to be able to encourage others to pursue their freedom in Christ and provide them with an example of someone who has had a measure of success but who is still human but who is committed to the path of Christian Discipleship because I know that our relationship with Christ and living according to God’s word reflects the Lord’s perfect will for our lives.

So as is my habit, and my local church’s tradition, I have begun a period of fasting and prayer to both crucify the flesh and renew the mind as I surrender the time spent in eating and meal preparation to focus on God and my walk of faith.

With one day fasting under my belt, I already feel the deep relief that comes from surrendering to the Lord and from giving my body a break from the season of feasting that I have been in.

When we give ourselves to the Lord, I have learned that you never regret it.  So as we try to adjust our lives to be less like our old selves and to better fit into God’s mold and into our “new names”, let’s remember to keep going. Let’s keep walking and talking to God.

And now that we have 2021 behind us, let’s open our eyes, open our ears, open our hearts, and open minds and listen to what the Lord wants us to hear. Let’s pray and ask Him for His love, guidance, and strength as we seek His repentance to turn from our old ways and seek to represent Him and give Him glory on the earth.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The NLT Bible Promise Book for Men”.

This morning’s meditation verse is:

Romans 6:23 (NLT2)
23  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today’s verse puts things pretty clearly.  Sin leads to death. Christ is the free gift from God that leads to eternal life.

As the Bible and most of society will gleefully point out: nobody’s perfect, everybody sins.  But before we relax and rest in our sinful lives, and unknowingly just keep on trucking on the Highway to Hell, let’s remind ourselves and world at large that the wages of sin is death.   All sin and all die.

But these statements that seem so true, “all sin, all die, nobody’s perfect, and nothing lasts forever” are contradicted by the reality of an everlasting God and the person of Jesus Christ.

Christ is perfect. Christ never sinned. And although, Christ did die, He was resurrected and lives forever.   And Faith in Him, gives us the answer to those wages of sin. Faith in Christ results in the forgiveness of all your sins and in eternal life with Him.

Today’s verse, and Jesus’ said that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.

In John 11:25-26 – Jesus said
....., "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

This is THE CRITICAL QUESTION: Do you believe this?

For those who do and put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, they receive a new and eternal life.

For those who don’t, they receive their wages for sin: death.

So don’t let people make those statements like “all sin, everybody dies, nobody’s perfect, and “nothing last forever” without challenging them and letting them know, quite frankly, that they are wrong.

Christ is exception that gives us hope. He didn’t sin. He didn’t stay dead. And makes a way for us to live with Him forever.

Sometimes these “common knowledge statements” that are so ingrained in our cultures and society are evidence of the lies of the enemy ruling the world when they are compared to the Truth of Jesus Christ.  So seek the Truth, seek Christ’s salvation, and Live.

As always, I invite all to go to mt4christ.org where I always share insights from prominent Christian theologians and counselors to assist my brothers and sisters in Christ with their walk.

Today we continue to share from Dr. Neil Anderson’s . “Restored: Experience Life with Jesus”. Today, we continue sharing from Chapter 3.

SATAN IS THE DECEIVER

Jesus described Satan as the father of lies. “Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.”61 He cannot speak from truth because there is no truth in him. He can distort the truth, and he will even quote Scripture as he did when he tempted Jesus.

Satan keeps people in bondage by deceiving them and by blinding the minds of the unbelieving.62 The power of Satan is in the lie, and the battle is for the mind. If he is able to deceive Christians into believing a lie, they will be spiritually impotent. He can’t do anything about our identity and position in Christ, but if he can get us to believe it is not true, we will live as though it isn’t. When the lies are exposed, Satan’s power over the believer is broken.

Asking the Lord to reveal the deception and declaring the truth in the Doctrinal Affirmation at the conclusion of this Step is a powerful experience for many who have been deceived for years. Some will become increasingly confident as they verbalize the truth. You may struggle just trying to read through the Doctrinal Affirmation, but when you have completed the Steps, come back and read it again, and you will see the difference.

Most Christians honestly desire to live righteous lives but have distorted concepts of God and are ignorant of their position and identity in Christ. As you make this 49

public declaration of faith, you are choosing God’s truth about His nature, character and redemptive plan for your life.

STANDING AGAINST THE DECEPTION

The battle is for the mind, and Satan will twist Scripture or tell half-truths in order to deceive us. So we must trust God to expose the deceit, remembering that the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. In this Step, we use truth to “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”63

During this Step a lady suddenly said, “Do you know what I’m hearing now? It’s just a thought! That’s all it is! I don’t have to believe that trash anymore.” She understood what the battle was, and it no longer had a hold over her. Another lady printed up a bunch of cards and was handing them out to anyone who wanted one. Each card contained the following questions, “Where did that thought come from? A loving God?”

If the voices, noises or laughter in your mind seems too overwhelming, stop and pray as you did at the beginning of these Steps on Page 33. You maintain control by exposing the lies and the battle for the mind, and by ignoring the distractions and continuing on with The Steps. Freedom doesn’t come from swatting flies (demons), it comes from taking out the garbage (sin). The way we overcome the father of lies is by choosing the truth. We are not called to dispel the darkness; we are called to turn on the light. The freedom progressively comes by resolving the conflicts. The noise in your head is just an attempt by the enemy to get you off the path that leads to freedom. If you seemingly can’t go on, then pray out loud: “I renounce this attack on me, and announce that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and I choose to continue to seek my freedom.”

Marcy was a sincere Christian who was being mentally “beaten up” with lies and accusations. She had been deceived into thinking that God was not a good God, that she couldn’t trust Him, that she would never be free from her past. This fragile lady was slowly and gently guided through The Steps, renouncing all the lies as they surfaced. A few days later, she wrote:

God is different from what my concept of Him has been, and I choose to trust how God has revealed Himself in the person of Jesus. I am His child, and I choose to believe that He will relate to me as a good Father would. I am a new person. This day is new, and I eagerly await to experience it as a new creation, free from my past.

Silent Mornings Can Make Us Appreciate the Silent Night- Purity 608

Silent Mornings Can Make Us Appreciate the Silent Night- Purity 608

Purity 608 12/22/2021  Purity 608 Podcast

Good morning,

Today’s photo of a blue sky and blazing sun over a glistening ice frosted forest comes to us from a friend who was gracious enough to share this view that they captured while they were presumably hiking on Hogsback Mountain near Marlboro Vermont on Monday.  To be honest the pickings of cool views from my friends has been scarce lately and I was thrilled to see my friend’s beautiful photo. So if you should be out and about and see something worthwhile, take a quick pic and share it, for your friends would love to see it.

Today is the hump day before Christmas and all through the house not a creature is stirring because I get up before the crack of dawn to connect with my heavenly Father through prayer and meditation to thank Him for the life that He has given me and to remind myself of just how amazingly blessed I have been to discover who I am in Christ.

Over the last few days, I had been slacking in my quiet time with the Lord as I felt the urge to prepare for a discipleship counseling session I had on Monday evening and decided to unpack quite the personal testimony yesterday to commemorate the birth and life of my beloved son, Brennan.

When you walk in the spirit on a continuous basis, sometimes you feel led to abandon your regular routine to attend to other matters. In my experience, following these leadings has always led to me being prepared for the Lord’s service or gives Him glory in some way.  If you are going to follow the “Mighty Rushing Wind” of the Holy Spirit, you will discover that there can be quite a bit of spontaneity in your life as you answer His call to be used by God to grow and encourage and serve others.

However, after the wind blows you all about, you will feel the joy that comes from your daily spiritual practice when it isn’t circumvented by other matters that the Spirit draws you to.  In the aftermath of serving and taking care of things that pop up, you can find rest and comfort in just another “normal” day in the Lord’s quiet still presence where your reflection on things past, present, and future just gives you peace.

In one of my discipleship relationships, a brother in Christ always asks me about my “quiet time with the Lord” and sometimes the question really convicts and annoys me because I realize that I have neglected the study of God’s word or have been short in my times of prayer and meditation.   He asks the question because he knows it is important to spend time connecting with the Lord personally and just how easy it is to neglect it.

When I am questioned and feel I have been lacking in seeking the quiet time of the Lord, I will get annoyed and start to think of a response in which I will defend myself by saying something like : “I’ve got important things to do!” or “You don’t know all I’m doing for the Lord already!” or even worse will have a temptation to point the question back at my friend as an accusation:  “What about you?  What are you doing for the kingdom?”

When those responses come up in my head, I know that I have strayed from what I should be doing and realize that my pride has been activated.  When your pride rises up, you should stop and remind yourself of John 15:4-5, where Jesus tells his disciples:

John 15:4-5 (NKJV)
4  Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5  I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

So as we are on a collision course with that Silent Night of Christmas Eve, in just two days, and maybe scrambling to make everything “just right”, try to stop and take some time to connect with the Lord through reading His word, by just taking a few moments to rest and reflect on Him in prayer, or by having an impromptu conversation with God.

Walking in the Spirit is just a matter of living in God’s presence from moment to moment where we take our lives and put them in His hands and listen for His wisdom to guide us in the way we should go.

Once you establish a habit of “walking and talking with God”, you will realize that you have entered into a spiritual dimension of life that few of those who surround you are experiencing.  You will come to see the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, and peace grow in your life and you will realize that without Him we can do nothing.

So draw close to God, abide in His presence, and share the love that God pours into you with the people that He has brought into your life.  The Christmas Spirit isn’t about running around like a mad man being obnoxious and boastful about the magnificent decorations that you have put on display to scream Merry Christmas, it is about reminding others of the reason for the season that began when God came to earth in the flesh and the heavens were invaded by angelic heavenly hosts on a silent night to proclaim the peace that only comes through Jesus Christ.

Today’s Bible verse is drawn from “The NLT Bible Promise Book for Men”.

This morning’s meditation verses are:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT2)
5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
6  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Today’s verses should be memorized and held in your heart because you will be able to stand on these verses every day a

I am more familiar with the NKJV version of these verses that says:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

I mean, this is our prescription. In all our ways we are to acknowledge Him by saying in effect that His ways are better than our ways and that we not only recognize that intellectually, but we also truly acknowledge it by trying to conform to His ways of thinking and by changing our behaviors to align with His word, experientially.

The Christian life is to be lived out every day. The benefits of our faith are not just for eternity. They are for here and now. Our lives are transformed when we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our worldly understanding and instead endeavor to allow Him to direct our paths.

Our walk, our relationship, with God is supposed to be interactive.  We acknowledge His ways and examine our ways and try to adjust our thoughts and behaviors to be more like His.   Because this is a spiritual relationship, it is not just about following a list of rules it is about thinking about our experience and communicating with God to receive His feedback and blessings that flow as a consequence of stepping onto His path for living.

So keep walking and talking with God. Memorize these verses and use them to remind you who God is, who you are, and which way you are going in this life.  His ways are higher than our ways and when we walk with Him we invariably rise up out of the darkness and confusion of this world and find a life where we can say with assurance: it is well with my soul.

As always, I invite all to go to mt4christ.org where I always share insights from prominent Christian theologians and counselors to assist my brothers and sisters in Christ with their walk.

Today we continue sharing from A.W. Tozer’s Advent Devotional – From Heaven,  for Day 26 as this current resource series will lead us to Christmas Eve.

As always, I share this information for educational purposes and encourage all to purchase A.W. Tozer’s books for your own private study and to support his work.

DAY 26

LIFE AND LIGHT TO ALL HE BRINGS

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

JOHN 8:12

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

1 JOHN 1:5

Here is the wonder of the nature of God: God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. This is the wonder of life and light: the Scriptures mix up and do not try to keep separated light and life. “Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings.” When that was written, theology was written, for life and light are one. This means that eternal life is also the light, the light of every man that cometh into the world. And I suppose that there is something deeper than morals here.

A great German theologian a generation ago wrote a book that has become very famous in learned circles. And in that book he declares that the idea of holiness goes back to personality. That you think of the holiness of God as a strange thing before you think of the person of God. I think he is right. I am quite sure he is right, and he says that the idea of purity is not the first idea of holiness. The first idea that comes to the mind, or that came to the mind, when the word holy was suggested was not the thought of being pure, but the idea of being greater than, higher than, other than, beyond, different from—in its self-sufficiency, uncreated substance of life. It is that without a pronoun, that without a personal pronoun, that—and then we attribute purity and holiness to God.

So when God says, “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1: 16 NIV), He’s talking about moral purity, He’s talking about spiritual cleanness. But beyond that, in the back of that, and prior to that is the solemn, indescribable something that cannot be put into words: that there exists a nature, a substance in the universe that is life and light, and it is a thing, and it is that. But it also has personality and, that personality is God. And the wonder of this passage in John is the nature of God. God is light. God is life. And in Him is no darkness at all.

When Love Comes to Town - Company on the Path - Purity 561

When Love Comes to Town -  Company on the Path  - Purity 561

Purity 561 10/28/2021 Purity 561 Podcast

Good morning

Today’s photo somewhere along the Zim Smith Trail near the Shenantaha Creek Park in Malta NY comes to us from a friend’s hike last weekend. I am happy to report that this particular friend doesn’t just walk the trails where Fall has fallen but also is no stranger to the path of Christian discipleship. In their travels on the spiritual path that seeks to do the will of God, they made a commitment to the Lord and to themselves that they wouldn’t compromise in the area of dating. They prayed for a faithful Christian man to come along beside them and were determined to not settle for anything less even if it meant that they would have to suffer in loneliness.

Instead of worrying about whether or not their prayer for a Christian mate would be answered or not they pressed in and sought to deepen their faith.  That’s where I got to know them.  There is a saying in spiritual circles that says, “when the student is ready the teacher will appear”.

So after our one and only meeting, this “student” saw a teacher in me and chose to step out in faith and approached me, a perfect stranger, to be discipled.  Over the last 12 weeks or so, I have encouraged them through the Victory Over the Darkness Discipleship Class material that I taught in the spring and the interactions between us with that material as a backdrop has made us both grow in our faith and together as good friends as we have shared our testimonies of a life of struggle before and after coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

In the course of those 12 weeks, I grew in my maturity and confirmed that TammyLyn Seguin, who had been my friend for several months, was the mighty woman of God that I would walk with through the rest of the days of my life as my wife. We are engaged and will marry on January 1st, Lord willing.

My friend rejoiced over our good news and as happy as I was for myself and TammyLyn, part of me was saddened that I had left my friend alone on the “singles” path of Christian Discipleship.

However, much to my surprise and delight, I received news from my friend and fellow traveler on the path of Christian discipleship, they met someone. They also shared that they had been changed by the process of discipleship that they have walked out over the last several weeks and had started to “think outside of the box” in many ways including who they would consider as a suitable mate.   Instead of looking on the outside for attractive qualities of a mate, they seriously began to consider the importance of faith and character as what they wanted in their mate and had been praying for the Lord to bring someone like that in their lives for quite some time.

But even though they had been praying for a “Christian husband”, I think the Lord needed to transform the way my friend thought about who would fill that role.

The word says that the Lord will give us the desires of our heart, but I know that sometimes the Lord has to work on our hearts to be more in line with the way He sees things.

The Holy Spirit reveals to us all truth and when we walk in the Spirit like my friend has been doing like at no other time in their life, the Holy Spirit will show you what really matters and will give us revelations to show us the truth behind how wrong we were in the ways we thought things “had to be”.

Having walked in loneliness along the Christian disciple’s path myself for quite some time through seasons of suffering that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, I was hesitant to offer my friend any hope in regards to finding “a soul mate” but instead doggedly encouraged them to develop their relationship with the Lord and to find peace and joy in that relationship and in the progress they made along the way.

To be honest, I never I thought I would find a Christian woman to fulfill my desires for a life mate, and no offense fellas, I really, really doubted that my sister in Christ would actually find a Christian man to be hers.   No offense to the world, but man oh man, even within the “church” there is a shocking lack of authentic mature Christian faith and that’s why my mission in life is to teach the reality of, and the benefits of, a discipled life of walking in the Spirit, the application of our Christian faith to all the areas of our lives.

So imagine my surprise to hear that my friend, my sister in Christ, who chose the hard road of Christian discipleship, has found someone.   As a skeptic I am wary to believe she has found a faithful Christian man,  but as someone who knows her and trusts her judgment I am thanking God for bringing someone into her life that she may be able to walk out the rest of her days with as she continuous to seek and do the Lord’s will for her life.

Yeah, its Thursday, and I share today’s photo of a pathway to encourage people to step on to the path of Christian discipleship, and to remind people that I am teaching a Freedom in Christ class tonight at Rock Solid Church in Hudson.

But today I also rejoice because I have another testimony to share now of how the path of Christian discipleship, if walked out faithfully has the power to deepen your faith, change the way you think to be more in line with the will of God, and comes with benefits that simply do not end.  When you humble yourself and follow the Lord He will lift you up and as you continue to walk towards Him, he will give you company to join you in your travels.

So keep walking and talking with God. You may not always know “where all this is going” but, man, I can tell you with full assurance that it leads to something good!

Today’s Bible verses are drawn from “The NLT Bible Promise Book for Men”.

This morning’s meditation verses are:

Psalm 42:7-8 (NLT2)
7  I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
8  But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.

Today’s verse reminds us of the unfailing love of God and encourages us to sing His songs and pray to the Lord even in the worst circumstances.

The “tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me” doesn’t sound like a good thing.  Raging seas are destructive and whether these waves are figurative or real, they don’t describe a peaceful state. And amazingly, the psalmist seems to know that God’s sovereign hand is behind the things, good and bad, that happen in life.

But what is his response to those “raging seas” and “surging tides” that are sweeping over him?

He remembers the unfailing love that the Lord pours out upon him, and he sings!  And He recognizes that singing the Lord’s songs is a spiritual practice akin to prayer.

Did you know that singing is a form of prayer? Apparently, according to the word of God, it is!  It makes sense.  Our hearts, minds, and voices are lifted up in praising and worshiping the Lord in song. That’s a spiritual form of communication. That’s prayer.

And if you have ever had a “song stuck in your head”, we may even have a glimpse into how we can “pray without ceasing”.  Beyond our formal sessions of prayer in the morning, our turning to the Lord throughout the day in a continuous dialog,  our songs of praise to the Lord are another way that we can keep “walking and talking” with God.

I teach that singing to the Lord is a:

-      gateway to a deeper relationship with God

-      a form of prayer

-      a weapon for spiritual warfare

-      an invitation to the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit

-      a means to gaining an experiential or heart understanding of spiritual truth

So remember the unfailing love of God and you will be moved to sing “His songs” and pray to the One who gives you life.

As always, I invite all to go to mt4christ.org where I always share insights from prominent Christian counselors to assist my brothers and sisters in Christ with their walk.

Today we continue sharing from June Hunt’s Dating: Secrets to Great Relating When Dating

As always, I share this information for educational purposes and encourage all to purchase June Hunt’s books for your own private study and to support her work. If you need this title you can find it online at several sites for less than $5.00:

IV. Steps to Solution

A man in a dating relationship who says, "I can't live without her.... I have to be with her," is also saying his whole identity is tied up in this woman. What happens if she suddenly dies? If his identity is totally wrapped up in her, then he's left not knowing who he is apart from her. He's left without his own identity.

You are not to lose your identity in someone else. You can be joined to another and still be a separate person. One is a whole number....You are one person because you are complete in Jesus Christ and His love is complete in you....

"If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus." (1 John 4:15-17)

A. Key Verse to Memorize

Those who look to dating only as a way of finding a future life partner or of finding a present sex partner will likely miss God's provision altogether. Dating provides a venue for forming and growing a relationship with someone of the opposite sex who might not become your marriage partner but who can become your friend.

God's desire is that we relate to one another in ways that reflect the mind and heart of Christ. Spending designated time with another person allows for learning ways to connect mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and possibly even physically while not relating sexually. It is a forum for sharing goals, values, thoughts, feelings, strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes, struggles, victories, and more. It is basically designed for getting to know and value another person.

God clearly made us for relationships...both with Him and with one another....
